I threw this scrub together last week because 1.) I spend most of my free time in the bath and/or shower, and 2.) I had a sinus infection and couldn't breathe thru both nostrils simultaneously, and 3.) the combination of spending so much time in hot water + winter makes my skin dry, and if I don't exfoliate often I look scaly.
This was my first time making a scrub, and I actually prefer this to the expensive kind I buy, which is a sugar scrub. The one I made is mostly salt, so it's coarser. Also, it's oily, so it left my skin really soft, which is awesome, because I hate using lotion.
It was really cheap to make, and if you don't want to smell minty fresh, just use whatever essential oil you like!
1 cup coarse sea salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil (I use Neutrogena unscented sesame oil, but any kind of body oil will work)
20 drops eucalyptus essential oil
20 drops spearmint essential oil
jar with a lid
Combine body & essential oils in the jar. Stir in salt and sugar.
*Edit: I just used this stuff for the first time after shaving, and ouch!! Because it's salt based, that's not a good idea!
