summer 2010
Emma is teething, which always leads to a runny nose, which always leads to a sinus infection. I generally lay her down in my bed for naptime when she isn't feeling well and I lay down with her until she falls asleep, to keep her from crawling out of the bed. These are the moments I will forever cherish.
She snuggled up next to me and pressed the tip of her nose against mine and nestled her feet on my belly. I thought to myself "feet in my ribcage? reminds me of being pregnant."
She closed her eyes and whispered "mama, I sleeeeeeping" about ten times before she actually fell asleep. I laid there wondering where the last two years have gone. Sometimes it seems like just a few days ago, we were bringing her home from the hospital.

And today I'm wondering where the last four, almost five years have gone. Even the above story feels like a lifetime ago.
These days Emma doesn't take naps anymore, but she still gets a sinus infection every time she gets a runny nose. She's growing up so quickly. She knows all of the words to her favorite songs, she makes her own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, she likes telling secrets, and she is beginning to read. (!)
Life is sweet.
